Golden Globes!

There's a group of artists - mostly visual - that I belong to called The IndiExhibit and on Jan. 14th, 2011 we're participating in the Golden Globes gift lounge. Should be a fun event for all especially for the nominies who'll be given gift bags. Our group has a special one chock full of all kinds of gifts including - and of course this is why I'm blogging here - my latest CD called "Child of the West".

Like most musicians I love having my music heard by any and everyone of you who happens to take an interest but it will be a special thrill knowing that artists from film and television will at least in theory give my music a spin.

I don't know who will win and who will get a chance to hear "Child of the West" but it could be a Christopher Nolan, or Steven Spielberg.

Well one CAN dream!

Here's a video of "Sarah's Song"

The gifted young American Ice dancers Emily Samuelson & Evan Bates perform a western dance here set to beautiful new music "Sarah's Song" composed & performed by Charles Mazarakes. The engaging choreography is by Yaroslava Nechaeva and Yuri Chesnichenko.

For great music for dance, film and pure listening pleasure visit: www.charlesmazarakes.com or www.myspace.com/charlesmazarakes.

This music isn't about an ex-governor but about a strong young woman, widowed and alone in the young state of Wyoming - which coincidentally was the first in the Union to elect a female governor.

They're Dancing to My Music!

Recently Joei Waldron with wonderful his company Axxiom, danced to my music at in Scotland for the "The 53rd International Choreographers' Showcase" of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2010!

Joei asked me to put together a collage from several works including MAGNOLIA, A GREAT BIRD FLEW BESIDE ME, JAMIE'S GONE, and THE EARTH TREMBLES, all from my album CHILD OF THE WEST. Of course I would have preferred that these works be heard in their totality but I know that in this case the music must serve the dance and this arrangement works quite well.

You can hear excerpts from some of these works by going to www.charlesmazarakes.com and the CHILD OF THE WEST page.

Joei tells me there will be a video. I”ll post it as soon as I can and let you know more about it all and other upcoming events.

Cheers,
Charlie
